How do we stop the spread of germs at our daycare center?

We stop the spread of germs at Small Hands Big Dreams daycare through multiple methods of cleaning and sanitization along with consistent practices that we summarize using the acronym CLEAN.

First, our Bainbridge and Mentor daycares are cleaned by our team during the course of the day and professionally cleaned with hospital grade cleaning products each night and on the weekend.

In addition, we utilize a new piece of technology that helps us to stop the spread of germs and viruses called a Zono. The Zono kills 99.9% of common bacteria and viruses on classroom items, including art supplies, markers, crayons, electronics with batteries, dress up clothes, books, toys and manipulatives, soft play items, infant walkers, bouncy seats and more. This equipment is fantastic, because many of those items were difficult or impossible to clean previously with liquid based cleansers that might damage them.

On top of the above processes, we have developed our own Small Hands Big Dreams practices that we summarize as CLEAN:

C – Covering coughs and sneezes by always coughing or sneezing into elbows.

L – Leading by example, teachers wash their hands thoroughly to stop the spread of germs. The teachers make sure that the children wash their hands constantly (using the appropriate hand washing techniques) including before eating, after coming in from outside, and after sneezing, coughing and blowing noses.

E – Everyday cots, tables, chairs are sanitized.

A – All classrooms take advantage of the Zono eco-friendly sanitizing machine, In particular, any toys that children put into their mouth are put in a basket to be washed and sanitized at the end of the day.

N – Notices are posted in all rooms where children are diagnosed with a communicable illness to keep parents updated.
